My little sister was diagnosed with a very rare disease. We spent many years in hospitals, her as patient and me as the "big sister". Along the way, we shared time with other children and their families who were suffering and learning how to live with catastrophic injuries and diseases. This was the beginning of an ongoing life long learning experience about children and adults who overcome incredible obstacles each and every day of their lives.
